Kānva Śākhā is the ancient Śākhā of Śukla Yajurveda. The Kānva tradition is mostly followed in Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh. The main Saṃhitā for Kānva Śākhā is the Kānva Saṃhitā and the corresponding Brāhmaṇa is Kānva Śatapatha Brāhmaṇa. The main Upaniṣads of the Kānva Śākhā are Īśavasya Upaniṣad and Brihadāraṇyaka Upaniṣad. The Śrauta Sūtra for Kānva Śākhā is Katyayāna Śrauta Sūtra and the Gṛhya Sūtra is Paraskara Gṛhya Sūtra. Epigraphic evidence shows the Presence of these texts for a very long time, especially in Himachal Pradesh and may be in Nepal. The Kānva Śākhā contains 40 Adhyāyas, 328 Anuvākas and 2086 verses.
