The Maitrāyaṇī Saṃhitā is believed to be the oldest Saṃhitā of Yajurveda and it differs from the Taittirīya Saṃhitā in the arrangements of chapters and so on. The number of sub recensions is 6; there are 4 Khaṇḍas and 54 Prapāṭhaka. Procedures of Yāgas put forwarded in this Śā́khā is Darśapūrnamasa Yāga, Caturmasya Yāga, Rājāsūya Yāga and Aśvamedha Yāga.
